Love is Boundless

How much love does God have? I cannot possibly know! But I do know that God doesn't only have love, He is love. The Bible describes God's love as far to great for us to comprehend. If we want to comprehend it, we need a divine revelation, because God's love is a love that 'passes knowledge' (Eph. 3:19).

David describes it this way: '[His] mercy ... is in the heavens; [his] faithfulness reaches to the clouds ... His mercy is everlasting, and his truth endures to all generations!' The first two things that come to mind when I read this are: God's supply of love is never exhausted, and, his love can never end or turn into lovelessness. God's love is as unlimited as He is, because He is love. God also has no lovelessness within Him - not in His words, thoughts, attitudes or deeds. There is therefore no impurity in God. He is completely holy. He is the absolute definition of holiness, because He is the absolute definition of love.

Nothing that God does ever falls outside of his love - not even his judgement. God's judgement is completely fair and completely loving. This concept might not make sense to us, but it remains the truth. We therefore need a revelation of God's love, just as we need a revelation of God Himself. A revelation of God's love is actually a revelation of God. There can be no greater revelation than this.

Have you ever thought that you could exhaust God's love? Perhaps the love of those around you has been exhausted, and now you think that God feels the same way. That is not true!

Even if you are the greatest fool on earth, God's love for you remains boundless.

The question, however is whether you and I will accept or reject it.

... that you ... may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.

- Ephesians 3:18-19

Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

- Psalm 36:5

For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

- Psalm 100:5

For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.

- Psalm 103:11

For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!

- Psalm 117:2
